The challenge
Shamin Hotels operates more than 80 hotels across many brands and markets. As Chief Operating Officer, Nirav Patel works closely with the accounting team to make sure every property has timely, accurate financials. But each new hotel made multi-property hotel accounting more complex. Shamin relied on an outsourced bookkeeping provider and a stack of disconnected tools. Revenue reconciliation was manual, several people touched a single transaction, and Nirav saw hotel financial reports reach leadership later than they needed them.
The solution
Nirav wanted a technology-forward partner that would use AI to automate routine bookkeeping, so accountants could focus on higher-value work and property leaders could focus on guests. Docyt delivered an AI accounting platform and hotel business intelligence in one system.
Docyt connects directly to Shamin's property management systems, POS systems, payroll, and bank feeds, pulling in transactions in real time. As each transaction flows in, Docyt's AI agents categorize and reconcile it automatically, so the books stay current every day instead of catching up at month-end.
- Revenue reconciliation and deposit tracking: daily revenue posts automatically from each hotel's PMS and POS, GMs sign off each day, and deposit tracking matches every card processor deposit against reported revenue. Missing deposits surface right away instead of at month-end.
Accounting Suite: Deposit tracking handled by Docyt AI agents.
- AI-powered accounts payable: AI reads and codes invoices, routes them through approval rules built around Shamin's authorized signatories, and pays vendors by check or ACH from the same platform. Every invoice is verified and approved before it can be paid, giving Shamin strong segregation of duties.
- Intercompany accounting: when an expense is split across hotels, Docyt creates the intercompany entries automatically.
- Daily flash reports: Daily Revenue and Labor Flash reports roll up custom groups of hotels, with labor data pulled from payroll.

Payments Suite: Bill pay automation with thousands of invoices & receipts processed in real-time.
The results
With AI bookkeeping handling routine work, Nirav reports that Shamin's accounting team spends fewer hours on data entry and more on value-added financial analysis. Moving every hotel onto one platform also surfaced process gaps and coding inconsistencies the old setup had hidden, so the team could put stronger accounting controls in place. Property leaders now see revenue, labor costs, and P&L data in one hospitality dashboard instead of switching between tools. Next, Nirav plans to expand Shamin's use of Docyt's business intelligence to give property leaders even more of the tools they need.
Labor cost was $6,980 on Sep 30, 3.1% under budget. Housekeeping added 6.5 overtime hours to cover two call-outs, and minutes per room cleaned held at 29. Front Office hours are on plan for 84% occupancy.
